About LFD

The Lenox Fire Department

Established in 1909 after a devastating Easter fire that destroyed a large portion of downtown Lenox, the Lenox Fire Department has a long history of providing aid to the Town of Lenox, its residents and visitors through the dedicated and unselfish service of its members.

Today the Lenox Fire Department is a combination department operating out of three stations.

Lenox Central Station is staffed by career and relief Firefighter/EMT’s whom also staff the ambulance on all medical calls. The Lenox Dale and New Lenox, or North End Stations rely on their call and volunteer members for their prompt response to fire calls and their selfless concern for others.

The Department responds to calls that include, but are not limited to, structure fires, motor vehicle accidents, brush fires, technical rescues, water rescues, elevator emergencies, and general service calls such as animal rescues, evacuation of water, and elderly assistance.

Joining the Fire Department enables men and women alike the opportunity to provide an invaluable service to the Town of Lenox and attain a sense of personal accomplishment and fulfillment

Our Town

Lenox is a small residential community nestled between the City of Pittsfield and the Town of Lee in the Berkshire hills of Western Massachusetts.

As the summer home for the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood, together with Shakespeare and Company, Edith Wharton’s grand estate, the Mount, Cranwell Resort and Golf Club (Spa) and Canyon Ranch (Spa), tourism plays an important economic role in supporting a modest commercial base.

Lenox is also popular for outdoor recreational activities. Kennedy Park in the heart of Lenox, as well as the adjacent October Mountain State Forest, the largest state forest in Massachusetts offer outdoor sports including skiing, mountain biking, fishing and hiking, which attracts visitors year-round, adding economic stability. Thousands also visit to savor the excellent restaurant fare and shop in the fashionable shops and galleries. In September, the annual Tub Parade and Apple Squeeze close the summer season and brings on the wonderful colors of the spectacular fall foliage.
